Mine came today, long after I’d forgotten about it. Today was aptly timed, as I’m pressing forward as a writer this year with better focus and discipline. Every year for the past eight years, I’ve chosen Every year for the past eight years, I’ve chosen a word to define my year. Instead of a list of resolutions, this word serves as a beacon, helping me focus on what I want in the year ahead. Imperfect progress is preferable to failed goals, so the word is a great choice for me. . I always ask God to show me what my new word should be. At the end of 2023, I had no sense of what my anchoring word of the year should be. It seemed He was silent on the issue. . Last year was ABIDE, which helped me to remember to remain close to God. I had a couple of silent retreats and committed to devotional studies with two close friends to help me abide more deeply. . Late in December, while reading several devotionals, the word SEEK came to me. It kept appearing over and over. God knows I can be hardheaded and sometimes need repeated nudges. I love a clear message. 🥰 . After a year of abiding, which was a time of staying close to God and reflecting, it’s time to draw on that experience and seek new things with His help. I want to move forward confidently with His guidance in my personal and creative life and aim to seek His good counsel more faithfully. . In 2023, I was plagued by decision fatigue and analysis paralysis, which has kept me from moving forward in ways I’d hoped. This year I’m seeking boldly, asking God to help me grow and succeed in new ways. .
